Seven 1-session Cures

Presented by

Milton Spett, Ph.D.

Dr. Spett is the co-founder and co-leader of the New Jersey Association of Cognitive Behavioral Therapists.  This will be the 62nd workshop he has given for New Jersey psychologists, including 16 workshops at conferences of the New Jersey Psychological association.  He maintains a private practice in Westfield, NJ and virtually.

We usually employ many techniques with each patient.  So if a patient is cured of their mental disorder, we cannot be sure which techniques helped, which techniques hurt, and which techniques had no effect.  But when we use only one technique, and the patient is completely cured, we know that that is a powerful technique.

Learning Objectives - Participants will be able to:

1.     Explain the difference between the treatment of anxiety and the treatment of anxiety about anxiety.
2.     Describe one critical cognitive intervention for generalized anxiety disorder.
3.     Explain why it is important for patients to clearly understand their dysfunctional thoughts and feelings.

This program is intended for psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, nurses, mental health counselors, marriage and family therapists, and graduate students. It will be presented at an intermediate level, meant for those with some prior knowledge of the subject matter. The presenters receive no commercial support and report no conflict of interest regarding this presentation.
