    Spotting Neurodiversity in the Wild

    Presented by

    Matthew Zakreski, PsyD

    Dr. Zakreski  is a consultant, professor, author, and researcher serving the Gifted community.  He has spoken over 300 times all over the world about supporting neurodivergent kids.  He graduated from Widener University’s Institute for Graduate Clinical Psychology in 2016, and is co-founder of the Neurodiversity Collective:  https://theneuroversitycollective.com.

    In his talk, Dr. Zakreski will discuss the difference between neurotypical and neurodivergent brains, and how ND clients will manifest in different systems.  Using case examples, he will illustrate how to adjust therapeutic and educational techniques to meet the needs of this population.

    Learning Objectives  Participants will be able to:

    1.     Differentiate between neurotypical and neurodivergent brains.
    2.     Adjust therapeutic and educational techniques to meet the needs of ND clients.
    3.      Process and participate in activities designed to identify how ND clients will manifest in different systems.

    This program is intended for psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, nurses, mental health counselors, marriage and family therapists, and graduate students. It will be presented at an intermediate level, meant for those with some prior knowledge of the subject matter. The presenter receives no commercial support and reports no conflict of interest regarding this presentation.

    The breakfast will be from 9:00 – 9:30 am. providing a chance to network with colleagues and students.  The presentation will follow from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m.  Payments may be made at the door by check (made out to MCPA) or with cash, if you did not pay online.
